Thanks to Japan Rail West, we will soon be able to ride a Shinkansen train modeled after Shinji Ikari’s Evangelion unit. Details have been flowing in about the train itself, but what about the stations that will be receiving this special train? The most appropriate thing would be for Hakata Station or Shin-Osaka Station to redecorate itself to look like Neo Tokyo-3, but the futuristic decor might not be for everyone. Instead, Hakata Station will be opening two Evangelion-themed stores in order to fill all our needs for special Evangelion eats and goods!



Not willing to rest on their laurels with a super cool, super-fast Evangelion Shinkansen, JR Hakata Station is taking full advantage of all the fans that are going to pass through the station. Alongside the really cool train, a 500 Type Eva Café and 500 Type Eva Shop will be open while the special Shinkansen service is running from November 7, 2015 to March 2016.

Each store will be specially decorated to match the world of Evangelion, taking design cues from the Sanyo Shinkansen 500 Type EVA. The special Evangelion shop will be on the Chikushi side of the station on the second floor of Hikari Square, so all fans will have access to it. You will find a ton of Evangelion merchandise as well as limited edition Evangelion key chains, notebooks and sweets commemorating the Shinkansen: Evangelion Project.



The 500 Type Eva Café will be located within the Shinkansen gates and will be serving coffee and hot drinks in special Evangelion themed cups. They also have an original menu, including an item called shito curry (使徒カレー), or apostle curry, which is most likely a curry and rice dish where the rice is shaped like the one of the Angels.
