TOKYO — Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo is cooperating with Second Harvest Japan again to bring back the 100,000 Meal Challenge, a social media and donation-matching campaign which will run through Nov 15.
The campaign aims to raise funds equivalent to 100,000 meals. Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo has allocated 2,500,000 yen for this campaign.

The hotel and Second Harvest Japan organised the first 100,000 Meal Challenge in April 2015, running the campaign for a month to an overwhelming response which raised a total of 2,861,050 yen, equivalent of 222,710 meals.

The 100,000 Meal Challenge will highlight the importance of food support to those lacking food security. Supporters will be able to participate in the interactive campaign simply by liking and sharing Second Harvest’s related posts and by following Second Harvest Japan’s Facebook page.

For every “like” generated on either organisation’s Facebook campaign post, the hotel will donate 50 yen or the equivalent of two meals. Each “share” will generate a donation of 100 yen or just over four meals. Each time a person “follows” Second Harvest Japan on Facebook, the hotel will donate 1,000 yen, equivalent to 42.5 meals.

In addition, for every cash donation of 10,000 yen or more made during this campaign through Second Harvest Japan’s website, the Shangri-La will donate the same amount.
