▼ Studio Ghibli My Neighbour Totoro Sweater Is The Anime Knitwear We Need This Winter
- Category:Other
Premium GBL clothing line brings us a Catbus that’s been hand-knit in Canada.
Back in 2017, Studio Ghibli began designing adult fashion using high quality materials under their new “GBL” clothing label. Aimed at adult fans of Ghibli anime films, GBL has since collaborated with overseas labels like American outdoor goods company L.L. Bean to produce unique character goods with a focus on quality, and now they’re back with a new collaboration, this time with Granted, a premium hand-knit brand of traditional Canadian sweaters and accessories.
The tie-up between the two premium brands has given birth to a unique item of clothing called the “My Neighbour Totoro Canadian Heritage Sweater Totoro and Catbus“.
Using the highest quality materials, with everything from the wool to the maple-wood zippers produced in Canada, each sweater is individually hand-knitted by specialist craftsmen.
▼ Every sweater takes approximately 25 hours to hand-knit.

The garment stays true to the Granted style of heritage knitwear with its traditional patterns, while featuring beloved images from the 1988 Ghibli anime film My Neighbour Totoro. On the front is an image of Totoro, with a large acorn by its side and leaf motifs as a nod to the character’s forest home.
On the back is a giant image of the Catbus, with its wide grin and large eyes lovingly hand-stitched to bring smiles to everyone who walks behind you.

Designed to last a lifetime, these premium 100-percent woollen sweaters come with a premium price tag, retailing for 69,800 yen (US$639) each, plus tax. Available in sizes small through to extra-large, orders for the sweater can be made at Donguri Kyowakoku branches, the chain’s online shop, and the GBL site from 11 a.m. on 13 November.
If you’re in the market for a slightly more affordable GBL Catbus jacket, you might want to check out their embroidered baseball jacket collection, which has Ponyo making an appearance as well.
