JAPAN TODAY
The government of Hyogo Prefecture has started operating a 5MW solar power plant in the Harima Science Garden City.
The installation area is 6 hectares. The plant is expected to generate about 5,000,000kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 1,400 households, per year.
For the solar power plant, 22,208 monocrystalline silicon solar panels manufactured by Fujipream Corp were installed. Fujipream runs a manufacturing plant in the Harima Science Garden City.
Also, the government employed Hitachi Ltd’s PV inverters for normal operations (for selling electricity) and Sanyo Denki Co Ltd’s 50kW/10kW stand-alone PV inverters for emergency use.
The mounting systems of the plant are made of wood produced in the prefecture.
