Live Mitsubishi Webcast Promotes New SUV

  • Category:Driving
TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Mitsubishi Motors Corp. said Tuesday it will put on the market a new support-utility vehicle in March, the Japanese automaker’s first new vehicle launch in some four years since the revelation of its fuel economy data fabrication scandal.

Mitsubishi Motors started the same day a live webcast to promote the Eclipse Cross compact SUV.

In the webcast titled Night Showroom, available between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. every day through Feb. 4, people can see under the hood as well as the exterior of the vehicle. Developers and auto journalists also answer questions from viewers who are considering purchasing it.

Mitsubishi Motors claims it is the first automaker to chat with potential vehicle buyers on the internet. By offering the program at night, it aims to lure consumers who are too busy to visit dealers during the day.

The Eclipse Cross features technology to independently control all four wheels for stable driving even on rough roads. The sticker prices range from about ¥2.6 million to ¥3.1 million.
