During this time, usually when a disaster occurs in which there are victims trapped under debris or soil and sand at the site of the disaster, the rescue dogs are often used to find the missing person by detecting the smell of his body. However, the rescue dogs need guidance from people and situations may have difficulty at high risk. Starting next month, a group of researchers in Japan will develop a rescue robot can detect the smell of the human body.

As reported by the the-japan-news.com, mosquitoes can distinguish the smell of animal or human sweat and researchers from the University of Tokyo, the chemical company Sumitomo Chemical Co. And Kanagawa Academy of Science and Technology will use the mosquito's ability to create a small sensor that can be placed into a robot or other devices, and this robot is planned to be used in 2020.

While searching for prey, the mosquito which has a lot of odor-binding proteins in the antennae responds with high sensitivity to the smell of human sweat in the air. The researchers plan to use protein from the mosquito gene and implanting them in electronic devices with small sensors used in robots that can provide support for search and rescue operations.
