▼ Toyota’s New RAV4 Premieres at N.Y. Auto Show

NEW YORK (Jiji Press) — Toyota Motor Corp. unveiled a new fifth-generation model of its RAV4 sport-utility vehicle in a world premiere at the annual New York International Auto Show on Wednesday.
The RAV4 has become Toyota’s mainstay vehicle, exceeding the Corolla and Camry in sales. The automaker hopes to boost sales further through the introduction of the new model.
Toyota plans to release the new model in North America at the end of this year and in Japan in spring next year.
The auto show kicked off on Wednesday for a two-day press preview. It will be open to the public from Friday until April 8.
Large vehicles, which account for over 60 percent of the U.S. new vehicle market, are expected to be the focus of attention.
Since New York is a big market for expensive vehicles, luxury brands have a strong presence at the event.
