The Japanese currency yen fell to the 145 level against the dollar at one point in Tokyo on Thursday, falling to its lowest level in 24 years.

The yen has lost about 20 percent of its value against the greenback since the beginning of the year.

The currency touched the psychologically important line immediately after the Bank of Japan announced that it is sticking to its massive easy-monetary stance.
