eSports in Spotlight at Game Show

CHIBA (Jiji Press) — Tokyo Game Show 2017 kicked off in the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba on Thursday, featuring eSports gaming competition events.

The game show, with a total of 609 exhibitors, is scheduled to be open to the general public on the weekend. Major game makers including Capcom Co. and Square Enix Co. are displaying new products and allowing visitors to play them.

On Sunday, top game players from around the world will compete for the top prize of ¥1 million in a tournament using popular game series, including “Street Fighter.”
