Starbucks To Serve 47 Regional Frappuccino Flavors Across Japan

  • Category:Gourmet
Starbucks Coffee Japan Ltd. will roll out 47 exclusive Frappuccino flavors inspired by iconic regional sights and cuisines starting on Wednesday, as the coffee chain celebrates its 25th anniversary in Japan.

The first Starbucks in Japan opened in Tokyo’s Ginza district in 1996. To toast the occasion, the company asked baristas nationwide to suggest tastes for the limited-edition Frappuccinos, which will be released one for each prefecture.

Stores in Tottori Prefecture, for example, will sell a Tottori Gaina Caramel Creamy Frappuccino, made with coffee and caramel syrups that represent the wind ripples that dance on the Tottori Sand Dunes.

Patrons in Niigata Prefecture will be able to order Frappuccino mixed with crushed chocolate-coated kaki-no-tane spicy rice cracker. Chiba Prefecture, the biggest soy sauce producer in the nation, will serve a blend of coffee syrup and a splash of soy sauce.

Regional Frappuccinos will be available in the chain’s “tall” size only and cost ¥669 for takeout orders or ¥682 if consumed in store. The campaign is slated to run until Aug. 3.
