Daihatsu launches Move Canbus to draw female drivers

  • Category:Driving

TOKYO (Jiji Press)—Daihatsu Motor Co. released Wednesday the newly developed Move Canbus mini-vehicle mainly targeting women.

The new 660 cc series has such women-friendly features as rounded exterior and interior designs, power sliding doors on both sides, and a surround view monitor to assist reverse parking and other driving maneuvers. There are several pastel body color selections.

Daihatsu developed the new series assuming women in their 30s and 40s living with parents as main users, hoping that meeting demand from female drivers could help the subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corp. get out of a prolonged sales slump since the April 2015 mini-vehicle tax hike.

In the Move Canbus series, the front-wheel-drive models can travel up to 28.6 kilometers per liter of gasoline and the four-wheel-drive versions 27.4 kilometers. Most models come with a package of safety features, such as an automatic braking system, as standard equipment.

The sticker prices range from ¥1,188,000 to ¥1,668,600.
