A MAJOR Japanese business delegation will visit the country in February, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the DTI said that the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), the central organization of all Japanese regional chambers of commerce, will visit the Philippines with representatives from major companies, while also exploring ways to achieve a larger international footprint for Japanese small and medium enterprises.
“The Philippines maintained rapid economic growth for a number of years now. JCCI will send an economic mission to the Philippines in order to... support the globalization of Japanese small and medium enterprises,” JCCI International Division Head Takashi Akagi said in a meeting with DTI Undersecretary Ponciano C. Manalo, Jr. in Tokyo.
“[T]he business mission will be composed of heads of top Japanese companies as well as chief executive officers of Japan’s small and medium enterprises from various sectors such as metal manufacturing, trading, telecommunications, travel and tourism, banking, general construction, automotive and auto parts, food, electric power, air transport, and chemicals. The mission is set for Feb. 4 to 7, 2015,” Mr. Akagi was quoted as saying.
The officials from JCCI said that “C-level executives from major trading houses, Mitsubishi, Marubeni, Itochu, Mitsui & Co, Sumitomo as well as large corporations such as Honda, Sojitz, Mizuho Financial Group, IHI Corp., JTB, Komatsu, JAL (Japan Airlines) and ANA (All Nippon Airways) have confirmed their participation in the planned business mission.” -- Chrisee Jalyssa V.
