▼ Sony To Launch New Device To Operate Smartphones by Voice

TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Sony Corp. said Thursday it will launch Xperia Ear, an earphone-shaped device that enables users to operate smartphones hands-free and verbally, on Nov. 18.
With the new accessory, users will be able to make phone calls and use messaging apps such as Line without having to pull their smartphones from their pocket or bag.
The device, which weighs 6.6 grams, fits in a user’s ear.
With its embedded highly sensitive microphone, Xperia Ear also enables users to check their schedules, weather information and news by speaking instructions to the device, among other functions.
Xperia Ear, which recognizes multiple languages, including Japanese, English and French, supports smartphones powered by Google Inc.’s Android operating system, and will be priced at around ¥21,500.
