Typhoon Tapah has caused the cancellation of 276 domestic flights to and from Okinawa area airports as of 9 a.m. Saturday.
They include 92 All Nippon Airways flights and 48 operated by Japan Airlines.
Other affected carriers are Skymark Airlines with 34 flights, Japan Air Commuter with 32, Japan Transocean Air with 31, Solaseed Air with 16, Jetstar with 13, Peach Aviation with 6, Star Flyer with 2, and Vanilla Air with 2.
Airlines are calling on travelers to check online for the latest flight information.
