▼ Honda to End NSX Production Next Year
- Category:Other
Tokyo (Jiji Press) — Honda Motor Co. said Tuesday that it will end production of its NSX sports car at the end of next year.
Honda will put an end to the high-end sports car’s 30-year-long history to concentrate its resources on electric vehicle development, the Japanese automaker said.
Launched in 1990, the NSX attracted drivers with its lightweight aluminum body and high driving performance. But stricter environmental regulations forced Honda to halt NSX production in 2005.
The car was reborn in 2016 as an eco-friendlier hybrid.
“The NSX has served out as one of Honda’s brand leaders,” a public relations official said.
So far, about 21,000 NSXs have been sold worldwide.
As a way to thank fans, Honda will release a limited final version this month.
