Starting this month, Dragonair will upgrade its business-class and economy-class cabins and install a new comprehensive in-flight entertainment system on its fleet of 15 A320 aircraft.

Since early 2013, the airline has been upgrading all cabins across its A330 and A321 fleet, which now include the on-demand, in-flight entertainment system, StudioKA.

The first system of its kind to be offered on an A320 aircraft, StudioKA provides a wireless, streaming in-flight entertainment solution.

Passengers can download the StudioKA application to their personal electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets or laptops and connect to the in-cabin Wi-Fi network to access the StudioKA library, which contains 80 Hollywood blockbusters and popular Asian movies, more than 500 Western and Asian TV programs, music CDs and 16 radio play lists.

Business-class passengers will be provided with an iPad and can enjoy an additional selection of new-release and art-house movies, and more than 20 extra TV programs.

Nagoya-Jakarta flight

Garuda Indonesia will offer the first direct flight between Chubu Centrair International Airport in Nagoya and Jakarta from March 28, 2015.

The route will be served by Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which have a capacity of 222 passengers, with five weekly flights scheduled.

Flight GA911 will depart Nagoya at 11 a.m., arriving in Jakarta at 4 p.m. On the return, flight GA910 will depart Jakarta at 11:40 p.m., arriving in Nagoya the next day at 8:40 a.m.

Garuda Indonesia currently offers 39 weekly flights from Jakarta and Denpasar to Haneda and Narita airports in Tokyo and Kansai International Airport in Osaka.

The Jakarta-Nagoya route was added to meet growing market demand due to an increasing number of Japanese companies expanding in Indonesia.

In addition to upgrading its equipment and cabins, the airline is working to improve its customer service by broadening its flight network.

Milan expo carriers

Alitalia, Italy’s leading carrier and a partner of the SkyTeam Alliance, and Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, have jointly been named as Official Global Airline Carriers for Expo Milano 2015, which will be held next year in Milan from May 1 to Oct. 31.

The combined network of Alitalia and Etihad Airways links more than 560 cities across the globe to Milan.

Between March 29 and Oct. 24 next year, Alitalia will offer daily direct flights between Narita International Airport and Milano Malpensa Airport in Milan.

Passengers also have the option of connecting to other cities in Italy on the same day as their arrival date via Fiumicino Airport in Rome.

Current services offered between Narita and Marco Polo Airport in Venice, and between Kansai International Airport and Fiumicino Airport will no longer be available from March 28, 2015 through the summer.
