Colorful kimono silks hanging above the water
Venue: Myoshoji River When: Feb 22nd - Feb 24th 2019 , 10:00am - 5:00pm
Just around the corner of Takadanobaba and Ikebukuro, the neighborhood around Nakai station is a rather "ordinary" place for 362 days of the year. Around the end of February however, it becomes very special.
The area is known as a traditional kimono silk dying area and it therefore holds a very colorful festival every year. Kimono materials are draped above the Miyosoji River, so you can see around 100 meters of kimono cloth hanging above the water—it looks wonderful. You can read more about the so-called "River Gallery" here.
