Muslims Can Eat in Peace at This halal-friendly Cafe

As Muslims traveling to Japan, it is still quite difficult to find a place to eat that accommodates the need for halal food. But if you stop near Asakusa, not far from the Kaminarimon, there is a place to eat that provides a halal-friendly menu. It is the newly-opened Sekai Cafe.

After a fun day strolling around Tokyo Skytree, Asakusa, and the surrounding areas, I ended the night with a heartwarming dinner at Sekai Cafe right on its opening day. I know Sekai Cafe from a friend who happened to read Halal Media Japan. I had coconut foccacia and a bowl of tomato soup for my dinner. There are many other dishes available, such as salads, soups, lamb and roast chicken, and pizza. Drinks also varies from coffee, tea to smoothies. All dishes and drinks rangie from ¥450 to ¥1,200.

On the menu board, a policy and rule of Sekai Cafe is shown: everyone who comes to Sekai Cafe can order a menu tailored to their needs, ranging from vegan menu to halal meat. All dishes are pork and alcohol free. And if you're still not sure, all materials used in each menu are described with a pictogram.

As seen in the photographs, the interior was very warm with a quote-tree and photo board. The staff are very friendly and able to speak English. At the time when I visited Sekai Cafe, there was a staff wearing a veil, a student from Malaysia.

While eating your pizza or sipping a coffee, you can also enjoy free Wi-Fi and power outlets are available at every seat. Of course, I did not waste this free facility. I immediately charged my phone battery and connected to the virtual world via free Wi-Fi.

Sekai Cafe is located not far from the large lanterns at Kaminarimon, which is about a 2 minute walk. The nearest station is Asakusa (Asakusa, Ginza, and Tobu lines).
