Hidden in the small, winding streets of Harajuku, Love Me Do is a great little hair salon near Meiji Jingu Crossing. One of th stylists of Love Me Do is Kanji Tanaka, who has been styling hair for the past sixteen years, starting at a salon called Elrhodes in Seibu Department Store in Shibuya.

With a strong background in hairstyling, he ventured to Love Me Do and has been styling hair there for the past eight years.

 

If your hair is curly, thick, and frizzy, then you have probably been worried about getting your hair cut in Japan, just like me. My hair is nothing like the smooth, straight hair that most Japanese girls have. But no fears at Love Me Do. Kanji has studied hair styling in some of the most fashion-centered cities in the world: London, Paris, and Milan, with a hopeful stop is New York for his next trip. He incorporates the individual styles learned from the different fashion-centers with the cool styles from Tokyo’s simple cuts. Kanji is always up to date with the latest trends and offers his advice for what style would best suit you. He sees hairstyling as creating art in an always changing, energy filled environment.

 

Kanji’s shop is convenient for a day out shopping in the most fashion-forward part of Tokyo. After your new haircut, go shopping at the nearby Omotesando Hills, or brave the crowded and eclectic Takeshita-dori. Walk around the winding small streets and find a local restaurant to grab a bite at, or just stop by Yoyogi Park to watch The Greasers perform on a Sunday afternoon.
