▼ Local students to visit sister city in Japan

THE TENNESEAN
A group of 15-20 Hendersonville area students, eighth grade and up, and leaders will go to Tsuru, Yamanashi, Japan July 3-18 to represent the city.
The group will spend two nights in Tokyo where they will enjoy a day of sightseeing and then go to Tsuru to stay with host families and attend the new Tsuru Kojokan High School. Tsuru, Japan and Hendersonville have been sister cities for more than 31 years. The Tsuru-Hendersonville Friendship Committee is the nonprofit organization that coordinates the sister city relationship and the sponsor of this trip.
All interested students and their parents are invited to attend an information meeting 6 p.m. Monday in the Community Room at the Hendersonville Public Library. Trip leaders will share about the itinerary, Japanese culture, the price, the application process and answer questions. Application packets will be available. Students who have already completed applications may turn them in with their $300 deposit at this meeting.

In March 2017 a student delegation from Tsuru Kojokan High School will visit Hendersonville. Another student delegation from Hendersonville will not go to Tsuru until 2018.
