Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi met with the State Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism of Japan Kokuba Konosuke in his working visit to London, United Kingdom.

Both ministers discuss the follow-up of several infrastructure developments including Phase 2A of MRT (HI Roundabout-Kota route).
Budi Karya mentioned that the project must be finalized on time, in accordance with the agreed schedules.

"By resuming the development of MRT in various corridors, hopefully [MRT] will facilitate public mobility and reduce traffic jams and air pollution," he said in a written statement on Tuesday.

According to Minister Budi Karya, the Indonesian government is currently pushing for the finalization of contract package (CP) 205 of the Phase 2A development of MRT. This package includes the development of the signaling system, telecommunication system, operational system, power, and track work.

"We hope for the support from the Japanese government to encourage Japanese companies' participation in the CP205 tender," he said. "We are targeting to ink the contract by December 2023."

The Phase 2 development of MRT is part of the National Strategic Projects, consisting of two stages, namely Phase 2A and Phase 2B.

Phase 2A development of MRT connects the HI Roundabout Statio to Kota Station, encompassing 5.8 kilometers and seven underground stations. Meanwhile, the Phase 2B development will connect Kota Station and Ancol Barat Station.

PT MRT Jakarta targets the development of Phase 2A to finish in 2028-2029.

In addition to the MRT project, the meeting also discussed the development of Patimban Port, which is currently starting its phase 2 development.
