A group of men forced their way into a luxury watch shop in Tokyo’s Ginza district on Monday evening, stealing merchandise before fleeing the scene by car, media reports said. Police later took four men into custody in connection with the crime.

At around 6:15 p.m., three men entered the Quark Ginza 888 shop, threatening the staff with a knife before using crowbar-like objects to break into showcases, investigative sources said.

There were five employees in the store at the time but none were injured, NHK reported. The broadcaster said that police are probing the possibility that over 100 luxury watches were taken from the Ginza shop.

The four men were also arrested the same day for a break-in at another building in Minato Ward, investigative sources said.

The men were apprehended in Akasaka in Minato Ward, NHK said. The fourth man taken into custody is believed to be an accomplice.

A video posted to social media showed the men, wearing white masks, breaking multiple glass showcases and taking products before rushing to a vehicle parked nearby that then sped away.
