Indonesia, Japan Aim to Develop Vehicle Electrification, Carbon Neutrality

The Ministry of Industry n Monday stated that Indonesia and Japan are in dialogue towards developing the automotive industry, with one of their main focuses being developing electric vehicle and Carbon Neutrality (CN) fuels, including biofuels.

Citing state-run media Antaranews, this information was presented directly by The Industry Ministry’s Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE), Taufik Bawazier.

“One of these collaborations is realized by establishing dialogue on automotive industry policies, especially related to efforts to reduce emissions," said Taufik on February 27, Antaranews reported.

"As one of the countries with the best automotive industry in the world, we believe cooperation with Japan can support efforts to achieve carbon neutrality,"

The dialogue between Indonesia and Japan was attended by the Director General of the Secretariat of the Minister of Trade Policy (Bureau of Manufacturing Industry), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Japan Fujimoto Takeshi.

METI's Director of International Trade Policy for Automotive Hirofumi Oima, and Chair of the Japan Automotive Manufacturers' Association (JAMA) Asia Experts Group Enomoto Masato were also present in the dialogue.
