A teenager who stabbed two people in Tokyo has reportedly told investigators she wanted to see if people die from stab wounds before killing her own family.

She has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The attack by the 15-year-old girl on Saturday left a woman and her 19-year-old daughter seriously injured. Police say she attacked the two from behind. They add it does not appear the attacker had known them.

She has reportedly told investigators she wanted to kill her family and that she wanted to see if people really die from stab wounds beforehand.

Tokyo police have not found any notable domestic trouble in her family.
She lives in Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo.

She earlier told police that she wanted to receive the death penalty and attacked the two, whom she just came across.
