Illumination Event Puts Himeji Castle In Limelight In Western Japan

Himeji Castle is lit up by LEDs in an event called “Shiro no Hikari (white illumination) — egret shining night.”

The fortress is a World Heritage site located in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture. The castle is illuminated in one of six different colors each day.

The event also features laser beams emitted into the sky and projection mapping of flowers and ninja. It runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Sunday.

Admission is ¥1,000 for adults and ¥300 for elementary, junior high and high school students.
