The government of Japan intends to hold a virtual G7 summit on February 24, the first anniversary of the conflict in Ukraine.
This was reported by Japanese government sources quoted by the "Kyodo" news agency, according to which the Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida intends to invite the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to participate in the meeting by videoconference.
In Tokyo's intentions, the summit will serve to reconfirm the commitment of the G7 countries to support Ukraine and face Russia together. Japan will host the annual G7 summit in Hiroshima in May.
