▼ Ethiopians Prevail At Tokyo Marathon

Birhanu Legese of Ethiopia won the 2019 Tokyo Marathon on Sunday in the men’s division with a time of 2.04:48 — his first win in the race — while compatriot Ruti Aga came in first in the women’s division at 2.20:40.
Kensuke Horio of Japan came in fifth with a time of 2.10:21, while Suguru Osako, who holds the record for the fastest time among Japanese, left the race at around the 29-kilometer mark.
In the women’s division, Mao Ichiyama finished seventh in her marathon debut with a time of 2.24:33.
The meeting was coorganized by The Yomiuri Shimbun and other entities.
