Japan bring out the big guns for the 7-14 February 2025 Continental Games in Harbin, People's Republic of China.
Reigning three-time world and national champion Sakamoto Kaori and Beijing 2022 Olympic silver medallist Kagiyama Yuma were named to Japan’s figure skaters team for next year’s Asian Winter Games.
The Japan Skating Federation are leaving nothing at chance by sending their top female and male skaters for the 7-14 February Games in Harbin, People’s Republic of China.
Joining Sakamoto in the women’s singles will be Yoshida Hana with Chiba Mone, Yoshizumi Rion and Matsuike Rino as alternates.
In the men’s, Kagiyama will be flanked by Sato Shun. Yamamoto Sota, Miura Kao and Tsuboi Tatsuya are the reserves.
Olympic medallists and former world champions Miura Riku/Kihara Ryuichi passed in the pairs on the continental Games, which falls in between the Japanese nationals and the ISU World Championships in Boston in March. Nagaoka Yuna/Moriguchi Sumitada and Shimizu Sae/Honda Lucas Takeshi will try to plug the gap.
The ice dancers will be announced at a later date, the federation said.
