JAPAN TRENDS
Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang will be arriving in Roppongi in March 2016.
The Snoopy Museum, the second in the world, is opening in Roppongi for a limited two and a half years.
It will be located near the Roppongi Hills development and exhibit the original drawings of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz until September 2018.
In spite of its very American origins, Peanuts is very popular in Japan and Sony Creative Products, the company behind the museum and the franchise’s agent in Japan, are anticipating 80,000 visitors per year.
Roppongi previously hosted the “Ever and Never: The Art of Peanuts” exhibition, at the Mori Art Museum, which ran from October 2013 to January 2014.
Snoopy and pals also appeared at special pop-up cafes at Tower Records in Shibuya and Ebisu last year, as well as a green tea cafe in Kyushu.
The upcoming The Peanuts Movie, a 3D computer animation adaptation of the comic strip, is released in America in November and in Japan in December.
