▼ Illuminated Sakura Brighten Up Kyoto Nights

KYOTO — Kiyomizudera temple in Kyoto serves as the backdrop to illuminated sakura cherry trees over the weekend.
After a lighting test was conducted Friday, the special nighttime viewing event started Saturday and will run through April 4.
About 1,000 Somei-Yoshino sakura and yamazakura cherry trees stand around the precincts of the temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
During the illumination event, about 500 lights are illuminating the sakura trees, many of which are in full bloom.
