▼ Bright Red Spider Lilies Cut To Prevent Crowds At Park Near Tokyo
- Category:Other
A difficult decision was made to mow spider lilies before they fully bloomed in an effort to prevent people from gathering at Kinchakuda Red Spider Lily Park in Hidaka, Saitama Prefecture.
Due to the pandemic, it was the second year in a row that the city decided to mow the flowers and cancel the annual festival, which in the past has attracted about 200,000 visitors.
“It was a difficult decision to make, but it was unavoidable,” a city official said.
In an average year, the park appears red with about 5 million flowers in full bloom.
