Travelers’ Treasures - Giyamanto (Pottery)

  • Category:Tourism

The ceramics have the transparency of glass combined with the depth of lacquer ware. The pieces have artisanal charm and yet are mass-produced and safe for use in microwave ovens and dishwashers. Founded in 1921, Mino ware pottery is the result of over 3,000 test pieces and over two and a half years of trial and error before reaching a new frontier in ceramics.

Combining traditional techniques, it has evolved ceramic ware to something that is a part of our daily lives.

Expert’s comment: The special glaze differentiates Mino ceramics from other potters and manufacturers and shows off the true value. The pieces not only bring out the beauty of the ceramics but also of the food placed upon them. The pieces fit perfectly with both Japanese cuisine and Western cuisine and are used in famous Parisian restaurants. (Yudai Tachikawa, president and traditional technology director of t.c.k.w. Co., Ltd.)
