▼ Japan Govt. Posts Data On People's Movements
- Category:Other
The Japanese government has begun posting data on people's movements to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, based on location information from mobile phones.
It's part of the government's goal of reducing social contact by at least 70 percent, and preferably up to 80 percent.
Data posted on the Cabinet Secretariat's website show the movements of people in the central districts of seven prefectures where a month-long state of emergency was declared on Tuesday.
The areas include Tokyo's central hubs, such as Shibuya, Shimbashi, Shinjuku, Shinagawa and Roppongi.
The website also shows how much movements have increased or decreased in percentage terms compared with the previous day, and the day before the declaration was made.
The government plans to update the information each morning to help individuals and companies see the situation in visual terms to encourage them to make further efforts.
