Indonesia’s Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian met with his Japanese counterpart Minoru Terada in Tokyo today, September 28, 2022, to discuss bilateral cooperation in various sectors under the management of the two ministries.

“This includes governance, population administration, flood and waste management, as well as public transportation management,” as quoted from the press release issued by Indonesia’s Ministry of Home Affairs.

During the meeting, Terada hoped that technical assistance in various fields could be realized and resumed soon, including population administration, especially in a comprehensive network and data security system.

Tito assigned the Director General of Population and Civil Registry (Dukcapil) to follow up on the cooperation. The Japanese Ministry of Home Affairs also showed Tito the integrated administrative system at the city, prefecture, and national level which is known as the J.LIS server.

The day before, Tito met with Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike and visited the Tokyo Tunnel, one of the city’s flood control systems.
