To A Bright New Year

  • Category:Other

Pink and white kamaboko fish cakes, a common New Year’s food believed to bring good luck, are prepared at the Fujikuma Shokuhin food company in Settsu, Osaka Prefecture.

Employees used a special knife to put conger pike and pollack fish paste on small wooden boards about 6 centimeters long and 13 centimeters wide.

Fujikuma Shokuhin President Masafumi Fujita, 50, said 2020 has been a dark year because of the novel coronavirus, but that he hopes people will eat kamaboko and have a bright new year. The company is scheduled to ship about 1,000 kamaboko by New Year’s Day.
