The Indonesian National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is joining forces with experts from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), the JSPS Alumni Association of Indonesia (JAAI), and the Indonesian Researchers Association (PPI) to reinforce the country’s research ecosystem.

“Indonesia must continue to maintain strong international relations and close partnerships, particularly through research and innovation with countries around the world,” said BRIN Head Arif Satria during The General Assembly Meeting and the 9th International Symposium of JAAI in Jakarta on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Arif emphasized that scientific collaboration is built on trust and long-term relationships fostered in laboratories and fieldwork. “JAAI and PPI provide excellent platforms to build new networks and future partnerships involving Indonesian, Japanese, and international academics,” he noted.

Strengthening the research ecosystem, he added, is essential to achieving Indonesia’s vision of Indonesia Emas 2045. This includes enhancing innovation capacity and national competitiveness to transform promising ideas into tangible, beneficial products.

Arif underlined the need to bridge gaps between research and industry, pointing out that national competitiveness reflects the contribution of research and innovation to the economy.

“This is evident in the excellence of R&D produced by industry, supported by research institutions, and high-quality human resources,” he said.

Through partnerships with JSPS, JAAI, and PPI, Arif expressed hope that BRIN can play a broader role in advancing research collaboration, particularly between Indonesia and Japan.
